Kampong Ayer (Malay) literally translated as “water village”
Built along the bank of Brunei River, the water village survived in modern times. Accessible by foot, the old flimsy wooden structures and new sturdy buildings are interconnected with bridges and walkways. Silence fell upon the place, so quiet. At the kids sitting on the doorstep, I smiled. Tee-hee, they liked it!
Off the beaten path, that’s a pretty simple live.
